Our Story

Vision of Hope was born from a journey we never expected.

In 2024, Tonya was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer—a rare malignant nerve sheath tumor with a 0.001% chance of occurring. The odds were overwhelming. There was less than a 20% chance that chemotherapy would help. Radiation wasn’t an option. The average life expectancy was 17 months—the month she statistically was not supposed to see.

And yet… she did.

Today, her scans show no evidence of disease.

That journey changed everything.

Along the way, we experienced firsthand the physical, emotional, and financial weight that comes with a cancer diagnosis. We also saw the gaps—the things people truly need but often struggle to find: support, reliable information, and practical help during one of the hardest seasons of their lives.

As an optometrist, Tonya has spent her career helping people see clearly. Through this journey, that calling took on a deeper meaning—finding clarity, direction, and hope in the middle of uncertainty.

That perspective became part of the foundation’s name: Vision of Hope.

Vision of Hope was created to help fill those gaps—so others in our community have support, guidance, and a path forward when they need it most.

Our Mission.

Vision of Hope exists to support individuals and families affected by cancer through three core pillars: support, education, and prevention. We provide trusted resources, practical guidance, and meaningful assistance to help people navigate their journey with confidence and hope.

Why We Started

This foundation is personal.

It was built from lived experience—not just research or observation. We know what it feels like to face uncertainty, to search for answers, and to need support in ways you didn’t expect.

Vision of Hope exists so that others in our community don’t have to walk that road alone.
